One of the main requirements for large gears is that the material must be strong enough to withstand the load and stress placed on it. In general, materials of large steel gear use forged blanks, because the internal structure of the forged blank is more compact and the mechanical properties are better. Especially after the tempering treatment, the stress of the material can be eliminated and the physical properties are better.
The process of milling and grinding is used in the machining of large gear. After milling, the teeth are quenched, and the hardness can reach HRC60+ after quenching treatment . Then the grinding process is carried out to make the teeth reach a higher precision. At the same time, the inner hole and the outer circle should also be grinding. Finally, it can be shipped out after CMM detection.
